Summer is a season waited by many. It is time to travel, go camping and have fun as a family. But did you know that your skin can be damaged during the summer? Yes, it could. Many people only look for means to take care of their skin and hair over the summer forgetting their lips. The lips suffer a victim of summer hence the need to be taken care as well. Excessive heat could lead to dry and chapped lips. Many people are not aware of this, but the lips do not produce oil like the skin. It is therefore easy for the lips to get dehydrated over the exposure to the sun or raised temperatures. Some of the effects of excess heat on the lips include redness, pain, bleeding, flaky skin, roughness, and tenderness. The lips have a thin melanin skin which is made to protect them from UV lights hence the damages. It is therefore to take is as your duty to keep the lips protected from UV lights. Below are some lip care routines to be applied during the summer.
Use lip balms
Applying lip balm on your lips protects them from the dangerous rays from the sun. They keep your lips moist, meaning they will never be dry or chapped. Some lip balms have SPF protection. I would recommend the use of organic lip balms; they give better results.
Drink lots of water
Drinking a lot of water during the summer keeps your skin and body hydrated. Your lips will stay hydrated and soft as well.
Avoid irritating your lips
Licking your lips is one way of irritation. Biting your lips is another form of lip irritation. Such inhibits fast healing because it keeps of tearing and damaging the lip skin.
Fruits and vegetables provide all the nutrients needed by the body. A body enrichment with nutrients is always healthy. Your lips will be healthy as well.
Avoid direct sunlight
The sun is a number cause of dry lips. Covering your lips with lipstick or lip balm prevents the sun from burning your lips.
Morning lip care
Brush your lips with a soft baby brush every morning. This works well in removing the flaky skin on the lips. Apply some lip balm immediately.
Apply a moisturizing cream on your lips before you go to bed. With that, you will always wake up with soft and smooth lips.
